ABC Plumbing

Second-generation plumbing shop serving Bowie since 1998.

Marcus Ellison · Owner & Master Plumber

Marcus Ellison of ABC Plumbing at work in Bowie

Marcus Ellison started riding along on service calls with his father the summer he turned fourteen. Three decades later he runs ABC Plumbing out of the same Bowie shop, with six trucks and a crew he trained himself. "We do not sell people work they do not need," he says. "In a town this size, that catches up with you fast." The shop handles everything from slab leaks in 1970s ranchers to full repipes in older Belair-era homes, and keeps two trucks on call overnight for emergencies.

In Their Words

How did you get into the trade?

My father ran the shop before me. I started answering the phone at fourteen and was pulling permits by nineteen. It was never really a decision.

What do homeowners most often get wrong?

They wait. A slow drip under a sink is a fifteen-minute fix in March and a subfloor replacement in July.

What is changing about the work?

Materials, mostly. PEX changed repiping completely, and tankless units mean we spend more time on venting than we used to.

What are you proudest of?

Four of my techs started as apprentices here. Two of them have their own master licenses now.
